Jean (RYT-500) was introduced to yoga in early 2002, and has taught since 2005. She personally experienced yoga’s power to transform not just the body and breath, but also the mind and spirit. Her classes are alignment-based and heart-centered, and include asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation. Rather than rigidly holding to specific ways of doing/thinking, true alignment happens when we let go of self-limiting conditioning, fear, anxiety, expectation and drop into the dance of life. That's when we start to live as we were meant to - in the wholeness of our unique being as an expression of the Universal. She is passionate about helping students experience this transformation through their own practice.
Jean holds a 500-hour yoga teacher certification (RYT-500). She completed the requirements for 200-hour teaching certifications in two styles of yoga (Integral Yoga Institute and the alignment-based style of yoga known as Anusara Yoga). She then completed an additional 300-hour advanced teacher training which, combined, provides the credentials for the 500-hour certified yoga teacher qualification. She also has completed hundreds of hours of studies with nationally-known teachers to deepen her understanding of yoga as therapy, which is the application of alignment principles to common injuries and chronic physical conditions. Additionally, she was one of 4 teachers of a teacher training school in Louisiana (now dissolved).
“To see the unity in diversity is Yoga – to see the same consciousness in everyone….Whoever realizes that Yoga, or union, will always love the whole universe as part of his or her own self.”
